To develop a tool that not only allows, but, most importantly, promotes the integration of heterogeneous workgroups from distinct and separate geographic locations. All this through a collaborative videoconferencing system through I2.

Among other features, VirtualCAL main components are:

• A real time working environment through videoconferencing that allows geographically dispersed interdisciplinary groups work in a joint manner, just like in a face-to-face meetings.

• A real time interactive mode with multimedia resources.

• A set of collaborative tools that will allow sharing: information, text, documents, images and presentations either simultaneously to all group participants.
